Timber Types

All timber supplied to Pronto Joinery is certified to originate from legal & well managed forests where there are more trees replanted than felled. The timber importers that Pronto Joinery buys from are supporters of the Forests Forever campaign and supply timber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The Forests Forever campaign is a campaign by Britain’s timber industry to help safeguard the forests of the world by encouraging improved forest management, responsible trading and promoting the positive environmental aspects of using timber. The Forest Stewardship Council certify that the forest of production has been independently inspected and evaluated according to environmental, social and economic principles and criteria of the FSC. Pronto Joinery believe that all the best practices are observed, timber and wood products are the ultimate sustainable and recyclable materials, requiring low energy consumption to process and being thermally efficient in use.

Please be aware that some timber types suit different applications and may not suit your project needs. The type of wood you use for a project will play a role in the outcome and success of your project, it will affect appearance, durability, flexibility and strength, moisture resistance etc.
